Interior sketches of the upcoming Skoda Scala hatch have been revealed by the Czech automaker overnight. If the production version stays true to the teaser, the Scala will have a much classier cabin than the Rapid it will replace.Among the available features in the new Scala is a 10.25-inch fully digital instrumentation screen. In the centre of the dashboard is a free-standing-style screen for the infotainment system, which on top-of-the-range models will feature a 9.2-inch touchscreen. Skoda says the Scala will also feature "an ergonomic wrist rest" just below the display. The automaker is also keen to point out the Scala's dashboard and door panels will feature plenty of soft-foam surfaces for an upmarket feel.Measuring 4362mm long, 1793mm wide, 1471mm tall, and riding on a 2649mm wheelbase, the Scala will be larger in most dimensions than the Volkswagen Golf.Boot space will reportedly be rated at 467 litres with the rear seats up, and 1410L when the rear pews are folded. While the Golf rides on the Volkswagen Group's MQB platform, the new Scala will use the MQB-A0 variant, which was developed for smaller and lower cost models, such as the Volkswagen Polo and Seat Ibiza.Details about the Scala's engine range were announced by Skoda last month. Exterior styling for the new Scala will be derived from the Vision RS concept shown off at the recent Paris motor show.MORE: Scala coverageMORE: Skoda news, reviews, comparisons and video
