The exterior of the next-generation Skoda Octavia has been accidentally revealed via a faulty online configurator a few weeks ahead of its official debut.
UPDATE, 22/10/19: We've added a new image from the online configurator which shows the all-new Octavia RS. Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
Initially picked up by the Czech Skoda Home forum, the picture fits neatly with the sketches provided by Skoda last week.Unlike the controversial 2017 facelift for the current Octavia, the new model doesn't feature a split headlight design with one section placed next to the grille, and the main portion positioned nearer to the car's edge.Instead there's a design heavily influenced by the smaller Scala. With more curvaceous sides and fluid detailing, the new Octavia looks lower to the ground and more sporting than the current car.Above: The current Skoda OctaviaAs with earlier models, the Octavia will have a lot in common with the contemporary Volkswagen Golf. Both models will use an updated version of the ubiquitous MQB platform, unofficially dubbed 'MQB Evo'.While the Golf will have its global launch on October 24, European time, the Octavia is set to make its debut on November 11.Most models will feature a turbocharged petrol or diesel engine under the bonnet. Reports from Europe suggest there will be a plug-in hybrid model down the track, while many variants will feature a 48V mild hybrid system.Like now, the Octavia will be available in two body styles: a sedan-style five-door liftback, and a wagon.Spy photos have shown the Octavia's cabin will be fitted with a digital instrumentation display, and a large touchscreen infotainment unit mounted high up on the dashboard.Australia
