Skoda Rapid coupe

Hi,

Just curious as to the interest in older "classic" Skoda's. Im from Adelaide but currently live in the UK where older skoda's are becoming increasingly popular as classic cars; im lucky enough to own a skoda rapid which ive been driving about London and the UK for over two years now. Its awesome fun, cheap and reliable. I certainly hope to bring it home with me eventually!!

If you've not seen one before, try this link:

Hi mate

See you found this site a long time ago..

Although you posted here a few years ago, possibly around the same time we first talked on the pommy site just thought i'd send you a hello and see if you have your email notifications ticked [hee hee]. Every posting kicks this aussie site along a bit further.. when you return to aussie you may be a regular here.

I havent been on the pommy site a while now...might drop in and have another read.

catch ya around.

cheers Russell..[aussieskoda]

Hi Russel,

Just saw your reply; Id forgotten about this site. Hope things are going well for you mate. I've still got the Rapid, and its still going strong serving me on an everyday basis without fault. Plans are underway for a return home, but will still take a while yet, expect to be there in the next year or two!

thanks mate...Actually i like this site, its going to take a while for it to take off as there are not a lot of new skodas about as yet, but I think it could be a good Skoda place when there are more secondhand modern skodas around.

regarding your return to Aussie, ironically I keep watching Homes under the Hammer in GB [such cheap properties compared to here] and tell my wife I want to live there [seriously]...[shes a pom] she says "no you dont' because you as an Aussie could not handle the cold.. hee hee

yep going ok just sold a Felicia and presently am getting calls from my advert in Just Cars magazine but all from Melbourne and they are very interested but baulk at the distance..it seems Victoria and Adelaide are all vintage car guys/restorers, Sydney seems to no longer be into restoring, also I find Sydney has less project cars for sale than interstate..I think due to our tough rego laws which took them off the road 20 years or more ago and they were scraped, plus we have less rural land near our city compared to Melbourne which means no one can easily squirrel away old bangers...

cheers Russ
