Why is the TV Tuner missing in the Octavia Scout 8" Columbus Infotaintment Unit

I bought a new 2016 Skoda Octavia Scout Premium 132-TSI 4x4 Crossover about 1 month ago.
I chose it because compared to all the other specced up makes of Crossovers and SUV's of similar size and price it has the most safety features and comfort conveniences as standard.
It has the 8" Colombus Infotainment unit.
But the tv tuner as is described in the owners infotainment manual is not in the unit.
Can someone explain why the tv tuner missing.
I'm really annoyed because the Scouts 8" Colombus unit with tv tuner was one of the things that helped me make my decision after seeing it in the owners manual.

Is it missing because my Skoda Scout is an Australian version?

In the Infotainment Owners Manual for the Skoda Scout, the info on the TV Tuner for the 8" Colombus unit is on page 36.

I've copied and pasted the above from a pdf version of the manual so it isn't exactly as is in the manual.
But I can't see anywhere in this manual where it says the TV Tuner is not available in our Australian model of the MYI6 Octavia Scout Premium 4x4 Crossover

Unfortunately, not everything in the user manual is available in Australia.
We also don't get High Beam Assist, or the road sign recognition.

yeah, not sure on that one mate. What did your sales guy say?

Also, maybe go to another show room and ask if it comes with one as standard, or an option.

I purchased a new jeep 6 months ago, and I'm in a similar boat. Sat nav has stopped working correctly. I can't even enter in a state other than NSW!!

G'day jnrdavo,
On the test drive the salesman whizzed through the infotainment unit and I didn't realize there was no tv tuner.
I think the right thing to do would be to point out omissions from what the manuals and brochures say. Especially when yer handing over 45 to 50 k.

yeah ok, I can see both points of view.

Unfortunately the manuals are very 'generic' and not market specific (which I agree with you, they should be).

I also agree with you, the sales guy should tell you what is included in the car, especially if you have shown an interest in a particular feature/module (tv) and it won't be coming with the car.

There is a potential to retro fit one, but will come down to your budget. Really good shops can install factory modules, and you may find your car has all the appropriate wiring etc and you just need to plug in the tv module for it to work. On the flip side, you may need additional wiring, an aerial etc..

Did you get a chance to ring another dealer and see if they are fitted to any new cars? Maybe do that and see how much the 'option' costs.. That will at least tell you if they are available in Australia.

You can also give the guys a call at auto fidelity and see if they can retro fit... It's probably not cheap, but price is relative to everybody...

On a side note, I just got a call back from Jeep (with 2 year old maps) and was told that I have to wait for a firmware upgrade to 'fix' my satnav problem. I can't change states, so that's going to be a pain around the Christmas period when I'm going to three states!

All this from a system that was working, was 'upgraded' with software, now you can only find places in NSW... A $65K car... that you can't update the maps (even if you pay)..
